If you want to boost confidence you have to know that it has so much to do with attitude aside from ability.
I've known many people who, while they lacked skill in a particular area, absolutely 'oozed' confidence! I'm not speaking about bragging about how good they are at tennis, or singing, or public speaking - when in fact they're not. I'm talking about feeling fine about not being skilled in these fields and doing them anyway!
Some things are just not significant enough to worry about - however we do just the same and create pointless stress for ourselves. Whether or not you fall over attempting to ice-skate, make a hash of cooking, fail at DIY or just worry that you may not be good at using a computer in case you tried it, so you don't - does it really matter?
Of course there are a number of things that are essential! Being excellent at your work is one of them; creating good relationships is another. In these cases you should find certain strategies to assist you.
What building selfconfidence boils down to is eliminating that voice within your head that tells you that you'll not succeed if you try, that you're no good at this sort of thing, that you will make a fool of yourself - or whatever the particular message is that rocks your self-confidence.
Those messages don't essentially tell the truth:
They might have been told to you, in the past, by other people who had their own agenda. Every so often people will say things to put you down so they will feel better about themselves!
They may have been your own interpretation of what somebody said. Usually what we hear is not what is meant, so when I say "You're not very good at sports", it's possible you'll hear that as a criticism or someone saying "You're a failure!"
They could be based on a particular experience you had that caused you to write that message within your head yourself. Let's say you tried making a bookcase once but it really didn't look very good when you completed it. Therefore, in your mind you believe you're no good at woodwork and can never try again. But you could have acknowledged that this wasn't too bad for your first try and that you'd probably get better with experience.
Your attitude is the factor that will carry you to victory, or defeat you before you even start.
If you don't believe you are able to do it - chances are extremely high that you won't. And if you believe all of the unfavorable messages from the past, you might as well put up a brick wall between you and your goals. (And don't forget, you fail 100% of the opportunities you do not even go for!)
But in case you believe you can do it, when you can imagine yourself in your mind doing it, odds are very strong that you will succeed!
There's a saying: "Change the way in which you look at things and the things you look at will change." (The half full - half empty glass is an instance of this!)
But you do not have to do this on your own, and confidence coaching would allow you to to find other ways of viewing things. Then the coach could help you to identify your detrimental beliefs and knock down those brick walls that stand between you and your own goals.
