Is anxiety inherited, what do you believe? Personally I do not believe so. I feel many of us are born into a lineage where there a number of us are dealing with anxiety. But that does not mean that we will have anxiety.
Saying from my individual personal expertise my Mum had anxiousness and I'm not 100% sure but I think my father was a pretty nervous man. Therefore yes it had been in my family. However I have four siblings and none of them are afflicted by anxiety or panic attacks. Moreover, I am a Sagittarius and it sounds as if we are susceptible to be restless individuals. Consequently this could also be a contributing aspect.
As soon as I had my first attack of anxiety I did ask my Physician the question "is anxiety inherited", he was not sure. As far as he was concerned there was no evidence either way. And so I think there is no conclusive answer to the question "is stress inherited".
I truly believe that there is no such thing as an anxiety gene within us. I do feel that we could pick up on the behaviours of those close to us while we are growing up. And so I feel we can have learnt behaviour which is something totally different to anxiety.
As kids we might have observed someone near to us having a panic attack and not in reality realized what was going on. But what we would of grabbed, was the anxiety they where feeling. And if it had been a close relative who had been acting afraid, then we would really be scared, as we looked to them to keep us secure. But we would not of recognized their fear.
Thus there might be an instance for anxiousness being a learnt behaviour, but as for the query "is anxiety inherited", I am not persuaded. Though it would be really helpful at times to find out where my fear originated from. And yes when I was feeling down it would of been really helpful to have somebody responsible and be angry with. But again that's just a part of the process, well it was for me. The unsure or not understanding was really terrifying. It would of been beneficial for me to have the physician say, yes your stress is inherited,at least then I may of least understood my anxiety far better.
What do you think? Please leave a reasonable comment to the query "is stress inherited". I would truly appreciate your feedback.
