Three Awesome Ways To Help You Write A Screenplay

Know that you've got a great film idea bouncing around your mind although not quite confident how to get it out on paper? Incomplete scripts getting dusty in the drawer of your writer's office? Confident you've got what it takes to make buckets of money as a skilled film writer but not sure how to get it on your laptop?

Here is a fast three-step guide to preparing and executing a script idea that doesn't stink, will move people and can possibly help you attain the screenwriting profession you've always dreamt of.

Brainstorm

So where would you start when learning how to write a script? You need more than just... "Two men fight in space" or "A mutant crocodile assaults Vegas." Movies are about characters. Particularly one character-who needs to experience an ordeal of some sort. So why not make the character you.

Start journaling about times in your life when you were sentimentally forced to the brink. Could there be one concept which comes up in your life repeatedly? How can you turn that into a story? (Who knows, maybe there's a mutant crocodile involved?)

Logline

So you have got a basic 'vibe' or 'feel' you need for the story. "A young man clashes w/his mother and father over college." Now it is time to turn up the heat and make it a story. That's when you really begin searching into how to write a script.

This is where we create a logline-the outdated TV guide mini-descriptions of programs you can find in the periodical. So what is a logline...?

It is not "Transformers on a Ferris Wheel." It is a circumstance: where Someone must do something (that is actually tough/awful to do) to avoid/prevent/attain something otherwise this other worse something could happen.

A young cultivator should leave the ease and comfort of his home town to join an intergalactic space battle or the universe will be taken over by an evil empire. (Star Wars)

Elevator Pitch

This is where you pitch your idea to everyone you know. Don't be concerned, nobody will rob it. (They would have to truly compose it.) Just keep going until you have an idea where others go, seriously that's great. When you have that, you have learned how to write a script, and you are ready to write a screenplay
